Would you say the problem of this hidden information is one of visibility, or is it inherent to the structure of the network?

I strongly feel that visualization could bring a new light to the data on facebook, especially if combined with content from other networks. The problem is, in order to have a sufficient visualization, the network as well as data structure would have to be more open and combined.

I am looking to OpenID and Open Social to help with this transition, but the future will rely a lot on individuals demanding cohesive data structures.
