The Forbes post by Rob KoplowitzMicrosoft and Yammer Face a Sliding Doors Moment is really good. He brings up Groove, which is really painful, as I was a giant fan of Groove pre-Microsoft. The advice he has echoes what Nitin provides, keep it autonomous, keep it as SAAS, and focus on service. All good and need to be strongly considered, if not kept.
