Great article, Thomas. A year ago I believed, and wrote on CMSwire, that there should be just one enterprise social network for the company. But my premise was wrong – I was looking at it from a whole-company perspective rather than a "what’s in it for me?" end-user perspective. With the market changes out there, new tools, and the failed promise of some of the global collaboration/social tools, it’s time to enable teams and individuals to work in a way that makes sense for them. I also think you’re right about bringing in an external "auditor" – innovation is happening fast, and it’s easy to be blind to it when you’re inside a large corporation.
